Lower Cholesterol (Home Remedies)

Your body needs a certain amount of cholesterol to function properly. However, high overall levels or an unhealthy ratio of low-density lipoprotein — the so-called bad cholesterol — to high-density lipoprotein can significantly increase your risk of heart attack or stroke. Multiple prescription drugs can bring down cholesterol levels, but some tried-and-true home remedies can also be effective. Talk to your doctor before beginning any regimen of self-treatment.

  • Aim for no more than 300 milligrams (mg) of cholesterol a day — or less than 200 mg if you have heart disease. The most concentrated sources of cholesterol include organ meats, egg yolks and whole milk products. Use lean cuts of meat, egg substitutes and skim milk instead.
  • Various nutrients found in whole grains promote heart health. Choose whole-grain breads, whole-wheat pasta, whole-wheat flour and brown rice. Oatmeal and oat bran are other good choices.
  • Fruits and vegetables are rich in dietary fiber, which can help lower cholesterol. Snack on seasonal fruits. Experiment with vegetable-based casseroles, soups and stir-fries.
  • Some types of fish — such as cod, tuna and halibut — have less total fat, saturated fat and cholesterol than do meat and poultry. Salmon, mackerel and herring are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which help promote heart health.
  • Moderate use of alcohol may increase your levels of HDL cholesterol — but the benefits aren’t strong enough to recommend alcohol for anyone who doesn’t drink already. If you choose to drink, do so in moderation. This means no more than one drink a day for women and one to two drinks a day for men.
  • The best home remedy to cure a person with high cholesterol is to have at least 8-10 glasses of water per day.
  • Immerse 2 tablespoons of coriander seeds in a glass of water. Boil the concoction and allow it to cool. Strain the water and have it three times a day.
  • Take 10 pieces of cinnamon sticks and put them in a pot containing 5 teacups of water. Boil the water and then add a tablespoon of honey to it. Drink this concoction when it’s warm.
  • In a glassful of milk, add a piece of garlic and boil it. Allow it to cool before drinking. Consume this for a few days. Not only would it reduce cholesterol, but also take care of the cardiac pains.
  • Alternatively, a person who has problems of high cholesterol can also have 2-3 cloves of garlic per day.
  • Mix 10-12 tablespoons of apple juice and 5-6 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. Intake this mixture once a day.
  • Consuming raw onions or onion juice is also beneficial in reducing the high cholesterol.
  • Regular exercising is very necessary to keep the cholesterol levels under control.
  • In green leafy salads, mix a small amount of olive oil. It proves beneficial lessening the high cholesterol levels as well as for the proper functioning of the heart and the body.
  • Persons suffering from high cholesterol should have foods rich in fiber such as raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, broccoli, green beans, etc.
  • Consume lots of almonds and walnuts. These are helpful in reducing the cholesterol levels.
  • Chewing sweet neem is also beneficial in lowering the high cholesterol levels.
  • Having fenugreek seeds and sprouts helps to reduce the high cholesterol levels.
  • Persons suffering from high cholesterol levels should have a small bowl of curd everyday. Curd acts favorably in reducing the cholesterol levels.
  • Another effective natural remedy to treat high cholesterol levels would be to have foods rich in lecithin such as egg yolk, vegetable oils, whole grain cereals, soybeans and un-pasteurized milk.
  • It is advisable to have food prepared from sunflower seeds instead of butter and saturated oil. This is highly beneficial in regulating the cholesterol levels.

Kidney stones are crystals that form in the kidneys or the bladder. These crystals are composed of calcium salts, uric acid, or struvite, a kind of crystal that contains magnesium. A passed stone’s appearance is a clue to its composition. Calcium stones—the most common kind—may be mulberry-shaped. Uric acid stones are shaped like footballs and are reddish-brown or tan. Struvite stones are the color of maple syrup and are faceted.

  1. Use the Japanese beverage lisymachia or kinsenso tea, available from Japanese grocery stores, to increase urination and help the kidneys flush out small stones. Take 1 to 2 cups daily for three to four months.
  2. Eat adequate amounts of fiber. Low fiber consumption is associated with a high risk of stone development.
  3. Use any magnesium supplement that does not include calcium. Magnesium reduces the rate at which the digestive tract absorbs calcium and lowers the concentration of calcium in the urine.
  4. To avoid the formation of new stones, do not consume large amounts of alcohol or fat.
  5. Avoid high-protein and “crash” diets. They greatly increase the acidity of the urine, which can promote the development of some types of stones. Foods that drastically increase protein supply, such as protein powders, should be avoided while recovering from kidney stones.
  6. Limit vitamin C supplementation to between 2,000 and 4,000 milligrams daily for periods of no more than two weeks at a time, taking care to drink at least eight glasses of water daily. Higher dosages, continuous use of vitamin C, or use of vitamin C during periods of dehydration may contribute to stone formation.
  7. To prevent new calcium stones from forming, avoid dairy products, meats, beet greens, black tea, cocoa, cranberries, nuts, parsley, pepper, spinach, Swiss chard, and especially rhubarb.

Vitamin additions : Taking vitamin An and B6 supplement will certainly stop the formation of renal calculi and treat kidney stones permanently, that is, if it is taken for a few months. * Pomegranates : Seeds of pomegranates ( both sweet and sour ) have proved useful in treating renal calculi.

Ear Pain (Home Remedies)

Inner ear infection

An inner ear infection is quite common. The medical term used to describe this type of infection is otitis media. This infection is not contagious in nature and can be is triggered by bacteria, virus or fungi. It can affect people of all age groups including infants and small children. It is often categorized into two different types: acute and chronic. Acute form of inner ear infection is more commonly found in small children while chronic cases are found in adults.

  • Warm compression is highly beneficial for controlling a throbbing pain in ear. Dip a clean washcloth in hot water and wring out the extra water from it. Then place it over the ear for a soothing relief. Alternately, you can pour some hot water in a bottle, wrap it up with the towel and hold it on the painful site.
  • Warm olive oil can be used as a homemade ear drop for ear infection pain relief. Take some olive oil in a small bowl and heat it in microwave till it becomes warm. Before applying the oil in the ear, make sure it is not too hot as it can cause burns. Put two drops of the warm olive oil into the ear using an ear dropper.
  •  One of the most well-known inner ear infection home remedies is use of garlic juice as its natural antibiotic properties can fight off the infection really well. Crush one or two garlic cloves to extract fresh juice from it. Take the juice in a dropper and put it into the ear. As it starts healing up the infection, you will notice that the pain decreases.
  •  When there is a pus discharge from the infected ear, you can use onion juice to control it. Crush an onion to obtain its fresh juice. Then heat the juice slightly to make it lukewarm. Now, put 2-3 drops of this warm juice into the ear.
  • There is another technique of applying heat on the infected ear. Heat one cup of salt in microwave for 2-3 minutes. Then put it into a small cotton bag and place it near the infected ear. It will bring down the pressure inside the ear by facilitating draining out of the liquid buildup. It should be repeated several times in a day for best results.
  • Essential oils can be used for treating infection in the inner ear. You need 3 drops of tea tree oil, 2 drops of lavender oil and 2 drops of chamomile oil. Mix these essential oils with one tablespoon of a carrier oil like almond oil. This mixture should be heated lightly. Then put 2 drops of the warm oil mixture into the ear three times a day. This will help you to get rid of the ear pain.

Reduce swelling and pain

  • Garlic is very effective for relieving earaches and can be employed in a number of ways. Garlic oil (which is simply garlic infused into olive oil) can be warmed and used in the ear as ear drops. Even better is a combination of garlic with mullein flowers and/or St. John’s wort flowers. The garlic oil can also be rubbed around the ear itself and used along the side of the neck for the lymphatic drainage massage.
  • An alternative method is to cut the cooked onion in half and place the cut surface against the outside of the ear and hold it there for 5-20 minutes. This has also proven highly effective in easing the pain. Make certain the onion has cooled enough that it is warm, but not hot enough to burn the skin.

Remove earwax

  • Select an agent that you can use to soften and dissolve earwax. You can use mineral or baby oil, glycerin, hydrogen peroxide, carbamide peroxide, or a drugstore ear drop designed for earwax removal.
  • Yawning, swallowing water repeatedly (while the nose is pinched), sucking a piece of hard candy and chewing gum are considered as the easiest possible natural remedies for clogged ears. These actions reduce pressure and help activate the muscles that open the Eustachian tube. This method is highly beneficial when dealing with changes in barometric pressure.
  • To encourage drainage naturally and relieve ear pressure, keep the head elevated to approximately six inches. This tip is particularly useful when dealing with clogged ears in case of children.

Tips for Stop Hair Loss

If you are suffering from hair loss, you have reached the right spot to find out how to stop hair loss naturally. Here we discuss hair loss, causes of hair loss, ways to stop hair loss, foods to stop hair loss and much more…
While hair loss may not necessarily be a disease in the conventional sense, it can still cause a lot of suffering. Traditionally, hair loss has been regarded negatively, and subconsciously associated with aging and loss of beauty. Thus hair loss, especially if it is premature, is capable of causing great emotional turmoil and in some cases, may even lead to social withdrawal.

No one can understand the agony of an individual who is going through hair fall than the one who has experienced the pain. The advice given on this website is derived both from scientific facts and my personal experience. Let’s take a look at some selected and effective tips to prevent hair loss:

How to stop Hair Loss – TIP # 1
Start Consuming a Good Multivitamin + Multimineral Pill

If you are experiencing major hair fall, it indicates deficiency of key nutrients in your body. To take care of that, along with a good and balanced diet, take multivitamins and multiminerals to replenish the nutrient deficiency in your body fast and prevent hair loss. You can buy them from any “health food” store. Just ask for the best multivitamin-multimineral tablet available that gets easily absorbed into the adult body. The idea is to ensure proper nutrient supply into your body to resume its proper functioning and stop hair loss.

How to stop Hair Loss – TIP # 2
Drink Plenty of Water Daily

Drinking at least between 10 and 14 – 8oz. glasses of water every day is another great way to prevent hair loss. Water helps wash off toxins from your body. These toxins could be a major reason for hair loss. Drink distilled water or at least filtered water that does not contain Chlorine, lead, etc. for healthy hair.

How to stop Hair Loss – TIP # 3
Cut Caffeine

I find this one the hardest! Caffeine is a diuretic, which makes you urinate out more liquid than you take in causing dehydration. Dehydration of your body and hair roots is another key reason for hair loss. Replace your daily coffee intake with a fruit beverage, milk or any other non-caffeinated drink to those shiny and healthy hair.

How to stop Hair Loss – TIP # 4
Sleep Is the Key – Get 7 to 8 Hours of Sleep Every Night

Proper amount of sleep every night is vital for your overall health and that of your hair as well. Sleep is the time for the body to regenerate and recover from the day’s work, removing the toxins you inhaled, eaten and drank. A sound sleep helps you in getting a sound and healthy body and controls hair falling.

How to stop Hair Loss – TIP # 5
Know what you apply to your hair!

Most of the men hardly care about the shampoo they are using. I have seen a lot of my friends using a four-in-one shampoo, conditioner, body wash & automotive degreaser in one easy-to-use bottle for hair!

Always use good hair care products and not just any scented shampoo. Add special hair care products to your routine and you’ll feel natural after trying it for a couple of days. Using specialized and good hair care products is a significant step towards hair loss prevention.
